Hang Around & Solve The Dating Puzzle!

Got your attention?
… I thought so. Puzzles and games and music and videos… all the fun things that the Internet brings right to our fingertips. And if the item is really unique, really FUN, it will tend to keep a visitor engaged for quite a while. And that… is the first step to “customer conversion.” Add to the mix an excellent site design and a bit of personal branding, and people will stay because they LIKE you.
Customer conversion. Converting your visitor into being your buyer. If there is anything about online business that borders on being “rocket science,” this may be the thing. And yet, sometimes I think we all just make it too hard.
There are a thousand instances in everyday life where we might have an opportunity to talk with someone, and just in simple talking, we find that our new acquaintance has become our new friend. A total stranger is now “on my side,” simply because I shared something with them… and we ended up finding we were in agreement.
Business is very much like that… I have a product I love because I created it and know how swell it is. And you now know about my product, and you agree! Conversion.
So, what does it take to convert your visitors? First of all, in order to change somebody’s mind, you have to be able to KEEP them on your site. This appears to be a “no brainer,” but there is a bucket load of Web sites out there that have no clue how to do this.
Three Major “Hanging Around” Rules
What it boils down to is what has come to be called: Stickiness. Is your Web site “sticky”? Do your visitors love to hang around just to see what you are up to? If so, then you’re on the road to converting them. If not, a six-second visit, and away they go. Your primary goal needs to be that of finding the right things that will make folks want to hang around.
1. Make Your Site Personal
Almost all relationships are built on trust. All good relationships are surely that way. Before trusting their wallet to you, your visitor must come to trust simply… you. Be open. Friendly. Knowledgeable and willing to share. Don’t talk up or down to anybody; instead, talk with them as if you were discussing life in your livingroom. Very few Web sites are built around topics that need techno-geek-speak! Your Web site and your products are probably very much for very real people. Open up and let your written speech reflect who you really are. As in the brick and mortar world, when people meet real, honest people, it is very easy to like them… and then, to trust them.
2. Building Your “Brand”
Like snowflakes or tree leaves, we are each a unique creation in the universe. Yes, Mother Nature is not into carbon copies! Work hard at determining what it is that sets you apart, and GO with it. Perhaps a logo or color scheme, or a phrase… work your BRAND and it will begin to work for you. A viewer can be anywhere in the Internet world, and if they should run into a bit about you, your BRAND will cause instant recognition.
3. Really Good Web Site Design
I love to watch the home makeover shows on television! Professional designers take on the worst of the worst for interior space and design issues, and the results are astonishing. It makes you wonder how the inhabitants ever managed to live in such uncomfortable circumstances, when solutions were hiding right before their nose. INSPECT your Web site! Think of your visitor and how they view your Home In Space. If they don’t want to stay awhile, it is a “comfort level” thing and you MUST begin the makeover!
Readers will make instant judgements about your site, within seconds. If your “home” is uncluttered and easy to move around in, it will make your visitor right at home. Great design will highlight special content just like a bright light on a treasured art piece, in your home. You want to keep friends over the long haul, right? And it is the same for your Web site as well.
So, What Does Flash Have To Do With It, Do With It?
I’m soooo glad you asked! The main reasons are: Look Good, Act Good, Be Safe. There are more reasons, but these fit my idea of an ideal Web site. If your home looks good, is easy to move around in, and is safe from the Boogie Man… then it is either perfect, or very close to it. And what is one possible key element? Flash. Your Web site can either utilize a full-fledged Flash design, or it can offer smaller elements that will make it a better place to live.
Flash – It Makes You Look Good!
I’ve been working in Flash or its forerunners since 1990, on both Mac and PC. I was one of the first to make PC talk to the Mac, within Flash software, which for the PC, happened about 1995. I’ve watched, used, and built in Flash for almost two decades. Working between only two software – Flash and your paint program (I use Photoshop) – the most brilliant of art works can be created. With animation and/or movies added to your site, this is the ultimate in “sticky.”
Flash – It Acts Good!
I am here to say… there is NOTHING better than this software for providing all the high tech gadgetry, UI (user interface), navigation, and artistic elements than Flash. Modern broadband has eliminated most of the early problems such as download times or inconsistent, wobbly delivery of animation or movies. Navigation schemes have become the most efficient to be had, making any site a joy to move around in.
Flash – Be Safe!
From the built-in abilities of Flash to hide essential data from the average viewer, to its abilities to handle secure sessions and do away with cookies… Flash has become an all-around problem solver for the Webmaster. A pleasure to navigate, this adds to your visitor’s wish to return time and time again. The graphics are high appeal, and customer tracking and management is easier and does not require cookies. Whether you code yourself, or hire it done, your final product will have both killer design and ultimate safety.
